Winter has
come. Barely 2 to 3 weeks are left for Christmas. It is the only reason why you
might have heard the Christmas bells ringing already. How about hitting some of
the cheapest winter destinations in
India which are not that cliché? Have a look into some of them.
Alleppey, Kerala
Earning a
reputation of ‘Venice of the east’, this place is located in Kerala. The name
was given by the contemporary British Viceroy to India, Lord Curzon. Since the
location is closer to the sea, the place is famous for humid climate during the
summer season. But the climate changes during the winter. The winter seasons
are fairly cool and perfect for enjoying a winter holiday. The average monthly
temperature of this place remains under 27 degree Celsius.
Per head expenditure:
Per head expenditure:
If you have plans to visit this place it is not going to be very much
expensive. Per head cost for one night stay is around 250 to 700/-. If the meal
is included then add another 200/- for per meal.
Main reason for
tourist attraction
Though agro based economy is the only way to sustain for the people
living over here. But recently tourism has become a major reason of economic
dependence. The reason why most of the people plan here to come during the
winter is because of the pleasant and cool climate. Such climates are rarely
found in the other portions of India in any other cheapest winter destinations in India.
The houseboats are the nexus of tourist attraction over here. It takes
around 6000/- per day for 1BHK facility houseboat. This also adds 3 meals of the day. Well, if you
are coming here in a group then this trip is very essential as the cost of
expenses will easily cover up.
Transport and
Communication
The transport and communication is also very cognizable in this part of
Kerala. National Highway 66 that connects Panvel to Kanyakumari usually goes
through Alleppey. This majorhighway also connects Alleppey to the major cities
like Mumbai, Udupi, Managalore, Kannur and Kozhikode. The state highways are
also interconnected well with some of the remote villages of Alleppey.
The city transport which has been introduced in this place is one of the
oldest transport route. The government run busses and the private run buses are
available in lowest frequency. If you have plans to visit the city, then my
suggestion would be to rely blindly on KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport
Corporation), because nothing can be cheaper than travelling via state run
government busses oin Alleppey when one plans to visit one such cheapest winter destinations in India
in the month of December. Ready to visit one such destinations?
If you are reaching here by railways then also it is easy to reach in
this place. The Ernakulam- Kayamkulam coastal railway line that
connects to the cities like Trivandrum, Cochin, Coimbatore, Chennai, Delhi,
Bokaro and Mumbai. The railways station is located within 4 to 5 kilometres
from the main city. That is why the connectivity to the railway station is not
a big trouble when you are visiting a place like Alleppey with plans to visit
some of the best & cheapest winter
destinations in India.
Since this is one of the prime destinations, most of the local and
express trains that connect cities like Managalore, Bangalore, Kozhikhode and
Amritsar passes by through this station.
Reaching here by airways is also not a big deal over here. Cochin
International airport is 78 kilometres only from this place and
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is 159 kilometres from this place.
Most of the international tourist connects this place primarily via these two
airports. During the winter seasons the tourist rush remains comparatively high
in this place. Other nearest airports are located in Coimbatore and Kozhikhode.
It is easy to reach over here via those destinations too very easily.
If you have plans to visit this place during the month of December, make
your plans well before. Or else there might be a problem to get your booking.
